ENGINEERED WOOD SIDING

LP SmartSide, the engineered wood that takes a hit

LP SmartSide is an engineered wood siding panel treated for termites, rot, and fungal decay. It has a higher impact rating than fiber cement, which makes it a strong choice for Austin homes in hail-prone areas. It costs less than Hardie and takes paint beautifully.

SmartGuard treatment process

LP SmartSide is made from wood strands bonded with resins and treated with SmartGuard, a zinc-borate process that penetrates the entire panel. Zinc borate resists termites, rot, and fungal decay for the life of the product. The treatment is not a surface coating, it is baked in. That is why LP backs it with a 50-year warranty.

Impact resistance and hail

LP SmartSide has a Class 4 impact rating, the highest available. In a hail storm, fiber cement can crack and vinyl can split, but engineered wood flexes and absorbs the hit. For homes in the hail belt south and east of Austin, that impact rating is a real advantage and can qualify you for an insurance discount.

Painted on site

Unlike James Hardie ColorPlus, LP SmartSide comes primed and is painted on site. That means you can match any color, including custom blends, and the finish is applied after installation so there are no cut edges showing. We use a premium exterior acrylic rated for Texas UV.

Cost vs. fiber cement

LP SmartSide typically costs 10 to 20 percent less than James Hardie fiber cement, installed. It is lighter, which makes installation faster, and it does not require the same specialized cutting tools. For a budget-conscious project that still wants real durability, SmartSide is a smart choice.

Financing options

Managing the cost of your siding project

A roof or exterior replacement is a real investment. We make sure the payment side is not the thing that keeps you up at night.

Flexible monthly plans

Spread the cost of your project across manageable monthly payments instead of paying it all at once. We work with financing partners who understand that a roof or siding job is not a planned expense, it is usually an urgent one. Plans range from short-term payoff to longer terms that keep your monthly number low.

Don't wait for an insurance check

If your adjuster is still reviewing the claim or the payout is weeks out, financing lets us get the work started now. You stop the leak, secure the property, and pay the balance down once your insurance funds arrive. No tarp on your roof for a month waiting on paperwork.

Simple, upfront terms

Your estimator walks you through the financing application during the inspection, right at your kitchen table. No obligation, no hard credit pull until you decide to move forward. You see the rate, the term, and the monthly payment before you sign anything.

Works with insurance deductibles

Many homeowners use financing to cover their deductible portion of a storm claim, so the job does not stall on out-of-pocket cost. We coordinate the scope, the claim, and the financing so you understand exactly what insurance covers and what your plan handles.

Questions

LP SmartSide FAQ

Is LP SmartSide better than James Hardie?

It depends on your priorities. SmartSide has a higher impact rating (Class 4) and costs less. Hardie is noncombustible and comes with a factory ColorPlus finish. For hail-prone areas and budget-focused projects, SmartSide is often the better call. For fire resistance and low maintenance, Hardie wins. We install both and help you choose.

How long does LP SmartSide last in Austin?

LP SmartSide carries a 50-year limited warranty and typically lasts 30 to 50 years in Central Texas. The SmartGuard treatment resists termites and rot for the life of the product. The paint finish needs to be refreshed every 10 to 15 years, same as field-painted fiber cement.

Does LP SmartSide attract termites?

No. SmartSide is treated with zinc borate through the SmartGuard process, which resists termites, rot, and fungal decay. The treatment penetrates the entire panel, not just the surface. It is actually more termite-resistant than natural wood siding.

Can LP SmartSide handle Texas hail?

Yes. SmartSide carries a Class 4 impact rating, the highest available. It flexes and absorbs impact where fiber cement can crack and vinyl can split. For homes in hail-prone areas around Austin, that rating can also earn you an insurance discount.
