Nighthawk Roofing & Exteriors started with one truck and a plain idea: show up when you say you will, quote it straight, and build it so it survives the next hailstorm. Years later, that is still the whole business model.
We're based in Austin and work the surrounding region with crews that install roofing, siding, gutters, decking, and paint, south to San Marcos, west to Dripping Springs, east to Bastrop, and north to Temple. No subcontractor shuffle, no middlemen marking up the job. The people who show up to inspect your roof are the same people who tear it off and put the new one on.
We have seen what Central Texas throws at a roof: baseball hail out of a spring supercell, 110-degree August sun that bakes shingles brittle, and straight-line wind that finds every loose fastener. That is what we build against, every job.
Why "Nighthawk"?
Every summer, common nighthawks migrate into Central Texas. They are strange, graceful birds, which surprisingly are not hawks at all, but nightjars, with long pointed wings and a booming dive call you hear on warm evenings over every neighborhood from South Austin to Round Rock. If you grew up here, that sound is the soundtrack of a Texas summer.
What makes them remarkable is where they raise their young. Unlike most birds, nighthawks do not build a nest in a tree. They lay their eggs directly on bare, flat gravel; and in Central Texas that means rooftops. Flat-tar-and-gravel commercial roofs across Austin are dotted with these birds every season, their mottled brown-and-gray feathers so perfectly matched to the gravel that you can walk within a few feet of a nesting pair and never know they are there.
A bird that lives on roofs, hides in plain sight, and comes back to the same spot year after year. When it came time to name this company, that felt right. We chose "Nighthawk" because it is a Central Texas original, tied to the very roofs we build and repair; and because like the bird, we show up quietly, do the work, and you will know we were there by the result, not the noise.
