Fences built to define, protect, and last
A fence fails at the post and the footing, not the picket. We set posts in concrete below the frost line, use steel posts where rot is a concern, and space the pickets so the wood can breathe. Cedar, metal, or composite, built by the same crew from start to finish.

Why choose us
Why Austin homeowners call Nighthawk for fencing
Local crews, proven materials, and a standard we will not lower for speed or price.
Built on Central Texas ground
We have spent years working the neighborhoods between San Marcos and Temple. That means we know the hail tracks, the soil, the wind corridors, and the HOA rules on your street before we ever set foot on the property. When we quote fencing work, it is based on what actually happens to homes here, not a generic chart.
Materials we trust
We install products we would put on our own houses. Every material on this list is chosen because it holds up to Texas sun, hail, and wind, and because the manufacturer stands behind it with a real warranty.
- Western red cedar pickets
- Powder-coated steel & aluminum
- Trex & TimberTech composite
- Steel posts set in concrete
- Heavy-duty gate hardware
Committed to your property
The crew that inspects your fencing is the same crew that does the work. No subcontractor handoff, no middleman markup. We protect your landscaping, clean the site daily, and stand behind the finished job. If something is not right, you call us, not a 1-800 number.
Financing options
Managing the cost of your fencing project
A roof or exterior replacement is a real investment. We make sure the payment side is not the thing that keeps you up at night.
Flexible monthly plans
Spread the cost of your project across manageable monthly payments instead of paying it all at once. We work with financing partners who understand that a roof or siding job is not a planned expense, it is usually an urgent one. Plans range from short-term payoff to longer terms that keep your monthly number low.
Don't wait for an insurance check
If your adjuster is still reviewing the claim or the payout is weeks out, financing lets us get the work started now. You stop the leak, secure the property, and pay the balance down once your insurance funds arrive. No tarp on your roof for a month waiting on paperwork.
Simple, upfront terms
Your estimator walks you through the financing application during the inspection, right at your kitchen table. No obligation, no hard credit pull until you decide to move forward. You see the rate, the term, and the monthly payment before you sign anything.
Works with insurance deductibles
Many homeowners use financing to cover their deductible portion of a storm claim, so the job does not stall on out-of-pocket cost. We coordinate the scope, the claim, and the financing so you understand exactly what insurance covers and what your plan handles.
Cedar privacy fences
Western red cedar pickets that hold their color and resist rot in Central Texas humidity. We use 4x4 steel posts set in concrete for the frame, so the fence does not lean after a wet spring. Pickets are spaced and fastened with coated screws, not nails, because nails back out as the wood cycles through wet and dry seasons.
Metal and ornamental fencing
Powder-coated steel and aluminum fencing for a clean, modern look that never needs painting or sealing. We use pre-painted panels with hidden fasteners and posts set in concrete with post caps that shed water. The right choice for front yards, pool enclosures, and hill-country properties where a wood fence would look wrong.
Composite fencing
Trex and TimberTech composite fencing for the lowest maintenance available. No staining, no painting, no rotting. Composite costs more up front but eliminates the maintenance cycle entirely. We install it with steel posts and hidden fasteners so the fence stays straight and clean for decades.
Posts and footings
The post is where a fence fails. We set every post in concrete below the local frost line, plumb and braced until the concrete cures. Steel posts cost a little more than wood but they do not rot, warp, or lean. On a long run, steel posts are the difference between a fence that lasts 10 years and one that lasts 30.
Gates and hardware
A gate is the most-used part of a fence and the first to sag if it is not built right. We frame gates with welded steel or reinforced wood, hang them on heavy-duty self-closing hinges, and use adjustable latches that stay aligned through temperature swings. A gate that drags is a gate that was built wrong.
Questions
Fencing FAQ
How much does a fence cost in Austin?
A cedar privacy fence runs $25 to $45 per linear foot depending on height and style. Metal fencing runs $40 to $75 per linear foot. Composite fencing runs $50 to $90 per linear foot. Steel posts add a few dollars per foot but add years of life. We give you a fixed quote after a free inspection.
How long does a cedar fence last in Austin?
A cedar fence with wood posts lasts 10 to 15 years in Central Texas. With steel posts, the frame lasts 25 years or more, and only the pickets need replacing. Sealing the cedar every 2 to 3 years extends the life of the pickets and keeps the color warm instead of turning gray.
Do I need a permit for a fence?
In most Austin-area cities, yes, if the fence is over a certain height (usually 6 feet) or in the front yard. HOA rules may also apply. We tell you up front what is required and pull the permit when the job calls for one, so you do not get a surprise from the city or your HOA.
Should I use wood or steel posts?
Steel posts. They cost a little more but they do not rot, warp, or lean. A cedar fence with wood posts will need post replacement within 10 to 15 years. The same fence with steel posts will stay straight for 25 years or longer. The pickets are the same either way, but the posts are what hold the fence up.
Do you seal the fence after installation?
Yes. We apply a penetrating oil-based stain after installation to block UV and repel water. Cedar will turn silver-gray in 6 to 12 months without a finish. We recommend a refresh coat every 2 to 3 years to keep the color and extend the life of the pickets.
