Class 4 Shingle Replacement After Hail in Cedar Park after

The storm

A May hailstorm dropped 1.5-inch hail across Cedar Park and Northwest Austin, leaving granule loss and impact marks across a 2,400 sq ft composition roof. The homeowners called three contractors. Two said the roof was fine. The third said it needed replacing but couldn't show documentation.

We flew the drone, documented every impact mark, and built a scope that matched what the insurance adjuster saw when he walked the roof two days later.

What we found

  • Heavy granule loss on the south-facing roof plane
  • Impact dents in the ridge cap shingles
  • Two cracked pipe boots that would have leaked within the year
  • Flashing at the chimney was lifting at the corners

What we did

We replaced the entire roof with GAF Timberline HDZ Class 4 impact-rated shingles, full synthetic underlayment, ice-and-water shield in every valley, and new pipe boots. The Class 4 rating qualified the homeowners for a premium reduction with their insurer.

The job took two days. Day one was tear-off, deck inspection (we found two soft spots near the chimney that we re-decked), and underlayment. Day two was shingle install, ridge vent, and cleanup with a magnet sweep.

Why it mattered

This roof is in the same hail corridor as Round Rock and Brushy Creek. Class 4 shingles are worth it here because the next storm is a matter of when, not if. If you're in Cedar Park and want to know if your roof took damage from the last storm, book a free inspection and we'll show you the drone photos.
