Roof Replacement in Cedar Park
BEFORE

AFTER

The Project
This Cedar Park home had a 20-year-old roof that was out of warranty and showing signs of age - curling shingles, granule loss, and a small leak near the chimney. The homeowners wanted to replace the roof before the next hail season made the decision for them, and they wanted a shingle that could actually handle Central Texas hail.
What We Found
- Curled and brittle shingles across the south-facing slope
- Granule buildup in the gutters - the protective coating was gone
- Chimney flashing failure - the source of the interior leak
- Soft decking near the chimney where water had been getting in
What We Did
We tore off the old shingles down to the deck and replaced the rotted OSB near the chimney. Then we installed a full GAF Timberline HDZ system with Class 4 impact-rated shingles - the highest impact rating available, designed to resist hail damage and potentially qualify for an insurance premium discount.
Synthetic underlayment went across the entire roof, with ice-and-water shield in the valleys and around the chimney. We replaced all the step flashing at the chimney with new metal, along with the valley flashing, drip edge, and pipe boots.
The homeowners chose a color that complemented their existing siding and neighborhood aesthetic. We sealed every penetration and transition to make sure the new roof was watertight from day one.
The Result
The roof was completed in two days. The homeowners now have a Class 4 impact-rated roof that carries a 50-year system warranty and is designed to handle the next hailstorm without a claim. The chimney leak is fixed, the rotted decking is replaced, and the new flashing will outlast the shingles. The homeowners are sending the impact resistance certificate to their insurance agent for a premium review.
